Scholarships for Marine Sciences Students
Kitchings Family Scholarship:
1. Two $4000 scholarships will be awarded annually to entering freshman. One scholarship will be awarded to an incoming Marine Sciences major and one to a Maritime Studies major.
2. Candidates must rank in the top 15% of HS graduating class or have a minimum GPA of 3.2, have achieved a minimum combined SAT score of 1100/1600 (Critical Reading and Math scores only) or an ACT composite score of 24+.
3. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to ocean focused/maritime programs or initiatives in school or community will be given priority consideration.
4. Award recipients must attend the Avery Point campus for four years. These scholarships are applicable to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.
5. May be awarded to a continuing student if no incoming student is identified.
All candidates will be reviewed on the basis of their UConn application (no separate application necessary) and priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply for Fall admission by December 1.
Marston Scholarship:
1. Awarded to a full time Avery Point undergraduate student enrolled in a 4-year degree program offered at Avery Point (Marine Sciences, Maritime Studies, English, or American Studies).
2. Candidate must have demonstrated academic achievement.
Retention (4-yr degree) Scholarship:
1. Candidates considered for this award are “solid students who are also good campus citizens.”
2. Awarded to a full time Avery Point undergraduate student enrolled in a 4-year degree program (Marine Sciences, Maritime Studies, English, or American Studies).
3. Financial need is considered.
Southeastern Chapter Alumni Association Award:
1. Awarded to a full-time degree-seeking undergraduate student in Marine Sciences, Maritime Studies, or American Studies major.
2. Candidate must be a full-time student at UConn-Avery Point in the fall semester 2012.
3. Financial need is considered.
Cooper Scholarship:
1. Awarded to full-time Avery Point undergraduate students in Maritime Studies or Marine Sciences degree programs.
2. Supports participation in experiential learning opportunities.
3. Financial need is considered.
