Introduction

UConn’s Avery Point campus, which is located near Long Island Sound, is a center of excellence for ocean education. Its students learn by doing in courses that emphasize laboratory and field experiences. The campus’ marine sciences facility is home to a number of companion programs that contribute to UConn’s standing among the country’s leading research institutions. The U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center is also located on our campus.
